Finally, I was able to watch a telecast of the British Academy Film Awards.
And by accident, at that.
I was channel surfing this morning and suddenly came across a telecast of the award show. I was so surprised, I wasn't able to take note of my comments, best of show picks and random questions. Also, I was too lazy to get off my seat to get a pen and paper, and I was enjoying the superb hosting skills of Stephen Fry.
Since my exposure to British comedic hosting was largely limited to Rick Gervais (in his many Golden Globe Awards outings) and Russell Brandt (can't remember which MTV awards show that was), it was refreshing to watch a British comedian whose humor wasn't grounded in making controversial, risque or offensive statements. Stephen Fry moved on from one topic or joke to another with ease, and never once made anyone uncomfortable (as far as I could see) even when making jokes at their expense.
