The Crab Grass State of Mind

Several hours earlier, I decided to overhaul my blog and deleted all my previous posts.  It was a decision that I do not regret... but I do miss one particular post.  The content was a quote by sci-fi author Philip K. Dick, and up until now still held true for me.

"There is nothing fantastic or ultradimansional about crab grass... unless you are an sf writer, in which case pretty soon you are viewing crab grass with suspicion. What are it's real motives And who sent it here in the first place It only looks like crab grass. That's what they want us to think it is. One day the crab grass suit will fall off and their true identity will be revealed. By then the Pentagon will be full of crab grass and it'll be too late. The crab grass, or what we took to be crab grass, will dictate terms."

No, I am not a perpetually paranoid person, but the quote does remind me that most things we encounter in our life usually warrant a second look.  How many times in your life did you realize that you had prejudice based on a bad first impression, or blindly taken in by a good first impression, and realize that it was actually the opposite of what you thought?  So before you think it a waste of your time, remember that it takes little effort to give something a once over once more.

And yes, you never know, but you just might end up giving yourself a chance to survive when the crab grass take over the world.  Because they really are everywhere.
