Screen Actors Guild Awards 2012

The Screen Actors Guild Awards is known for a few things.

First, it features the least number of categories compared to other award shows of the season.  The Screen Actors Guild is exclusively composed of actors, so the award show is only composed of acting categories.  It's a celebration of the acting profession, with the winners voted by other actors who are part of the guild.  For some, this is the best kind of show to watch, since they don't have to wait through hours of technical categories just to see if their favorite actors won.

Second, it's one of the least fussy award shows.  There's no host to take up minutes of air time with a monologue.  Presenters present and winners give their acceptance speeches for the most part, with the occasional humorous anecdote or comment thrown in by either parties.

Third, they always kick off the show with a few actors sharing something about their experience, which ends with "My name is (insert name here), and I'm an actor.".

Last, the Screen Actors Guild Awards is considered to be one of the best indicators on who's going to win in the acting categories at the biggest award show of the season, the Academy Awards.  The SAG Awards have been spot on in honoring a large percentage of future Oscar winners.  So, if you have a betting pool with your friends on who's going to win an Oscar, then you might want to check out who just won a SAG Award.

So, in the spirit of being not so fussy, here are the winners of the 18th Screen Actors Guild Awards.
