I don't wake up early normally, because my body clock never really did recover from being in the call center industry for so long. But wake up early, I did.
At 6:00 AM.
And that's huge for me.
And the reason?... Well, in order to be up in time to watch a live telecast of an awards show. My pop culture junkie persona has taken over and, as of this writing, keep crossing my fingers that Jane Lynch does well as the host of one of American television's top award giving bodies, the Emmy Awards.
So, who took home the big cheese? Or the lady with wings carrying that sphere thingy? Here are the winners from the 63rd Emmy Awards, listed according to the order the awards were given.

Some of the show's memorable or notable moments for me:
- I was surprised when the commentator voice announcing information about the winners suddenly added surprising, and very funny, snippets. Hey, voice-over commentators can be funny, too.
- The Emmytones composed of Zachary Levi, Colbie Smoulders, Taraji Henson, Kate Flannery, Wilmer Valderama, and Joel McHale introduce the different genres with their acapella singing. I'm still not sure if they really sang live or were lip synching. LL Cool J joined them (actually, stole the show) to rap when they presented the Movies and Mini-series genre.
- Rick Gervais' introduction of nominees was pre-recorded, because he claimed that he was not allowed on American soil during major award shows. The schtick is that they edited out the "offensive" content, and his televised patched-up speech ends up with "Thank God, I'm an idiot".
- Charlie Sheen wished his old show Two and a Half Men the best for the forthcoming season. I kept waiting for the punch line, but it never did. The dude was sincere. Yay for him.
- Jane Lynch welcomed back the viewers from a commercial break early in the show, by saying "Welcome to the Modern Family awards!".
- Much to the surprise of the audience members, the nominees for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series went up the stage when their names were read, waiting for the announcement of the winner like contestants in a beauty pageant. The fun moment earned them a standing ovation. Melissa McCarthy won the Emmy, a tiara and a bouquet of flowers.
- Saturday Night Live's Lonely Island performs a medley of their nominated songs. They get help from Michael Bolton for "Jack Sparrow"; John Stamos, Ed Helms, and Maya Rudolph for "Three Way"; and Akon for "I Just Had Sex".
- Peter Dinklage won! I was okay with the Game of Thrones not getting a lot of nominations, because it was new and it'll eventually get the recognition it deserved in the next few years. But Dinklage was phenomenal and deserved not just the nomination, but the win. So... Yay!
- The cast of Entourage gets the coolest entrance ever to present an award.
- I was okay when they showed the in memoriam segment... until they showed Andy Whitfield. :(
- Hugh Laurie, with Claire Danes, presented an award and reminded us all that he's English. And funny. I should look for old Blackadder episodes.
- Jane Lynch's Hakuna Matata lesson. Wait for somebody to post it, so you can watch it yourself. I can't justify it by writing it down word for word.
Happy viewing!! Labels: Award Show, Emmys, TV, TV Series
